Used for the welding of similar alloys in wrought or cast form and, in some applications, welding of straight chromium steels, ER309/ER309L MIG Wire and TIG Rods are mostly used for welding dissimilar metals such as mild steel to stainless steel as well as for a barrier layer in stainless overlays.
ER309/ER309L has a low carbon content of less than 0.03% which reduces the possibility of intergranular corrosion.
